How TO use RSS Feeds in hubpages and in my website?

How do you use RSS feeds for your web sites and for HubPages? That's a good question on that. The best way to think about it would be to know what RSS does and how it is written. Let us start at the beginning very briefly and try to keep it from going overly complex.

In order to understand it, it would be wise to know what XML is exactly. The best way to describe it would be writing in the English language. If you know that part, it should be simple to understand. If not however, then here is a prime example of what it looks like so it's not overly confusing.

There are other ways but mainly I just wanted to show you a basic idea of what one is and how it works. Now, writing it in this form would actually give an idea and there is more to it than just that. Once you have a good understanding of XML, then you should be able to work with RSS.

Now that the brief introduction to XML has been used, now let's talk about RSS. The key with this item would be browser compatibility. Sometimes it may work on one browser and not on another. It's not so much the XML but something called the Stylesheet. There are two types you could use and that would be XSL, which is used for it and of course CSS, which can work for all browsers. For this, I would say use FireFox and if you want to be able to use it for web sites, click on Subscribe to whoever's Hubs you want, look for a widget, and put it inside of it. There should be an option to subscribe to the Hubs and it will automatically update after a new one is published.

As far as creating your own RSS for your web sites, again you need XML to pull it off. The beginning of it starts with the XML tag and then you put in the RSS you wish to use. Mostly everyone uses RSS 2.0 so use that instead of any other version until there is a better one that gets developed, as it is the most common. First, you create your channel and then you add the tags you need to add. One thing about XML is that you create your own tags and it's in essential writing in the English Language.

I hope this was able to give you a better and a basic idea about RSS and what you need. For more on that, I would recommend going to http://www.w3schools.com/ as it will have more information on how it works and how to get it utilized and to work properly. It probably will take a few tries but it can be done. Good luck in being able to get it to work.
