What is the best instant messenger? What do most people have and why?
What is the best instant messenger to use? That's a very good question. The main ones I have tried the most would be AIM, YIM, and MSN. These ones I have found to be very useful and can come in handy especially when contacting old friends. The first instant messenger that I used personally would be none other than AIM.
It's time to tell a small story on this ordeal. When I first got the Internet in my Senior Year in High School six years ago, I was recommended by my friends to go for AIM and eventually I did. I can't remember what stopped me but I had been using it and have not gotten rid of it at all. Of course, with this technology I decided to expand elsewhere and learn how to build web sites but that's another topic. You do get a free email account if you decide to use it of course.
MSN I started using and it's not bad at all. Mostly it is just for the same purpose as AIM, just to send messages. On occasion you can send files and it doesn't give away too many problems, which is a plus. It would be recommended for those with a decent connection instead of dial-up because it can disconnect within the blink of an eye. As far as usage, it's pretty simple and nothing too fancy.
Yahoo I rarely use but mainly for email purposes. It's just the same as the others though it probably works just fine. Never did file transfers at all with it and didn't really have any contacts so that one is left alone for the most part.
As far as the best instant messenger out there, it does depend on your preference. For myself, the best one has to be the one I've used the longest would be AIM. It is simple, nothing too overly complex and most importantly very user friendly.
I do hope that this answers the question because there's really nothing else that could be added to it.
